December Recap

Another years has gone by, and that means you have to put the tiny bit more effort when writing the date...I can't believe that its already coming up on 2013!  I still remember the excitement (and confusion) over the changing of the millennium.  Here are some of my favorite posts from this month, as well as some of my favorite links from other sites.

Still Reeling...

This story has been done many, many, many times before, but the 2012 version is officially the most powerful and raw musical that I have seen in my life...and I like my musicals.

Life of Pi Review?

With all of the trouble of moving back to Florida and Christmas, I did not get a chance to finish my own book club book!  So, I will be extending Life of Pi for another month.  This means that another review will get the chance to win next months book club book. Happy reading.

I was not very happy with my first gingerbread recipe, so I tried this one and let my cousin put it together on Christmas.  She had a little too much fun.

Crazy Inventions

The Good, the Bad, and the...Umm....
Boredom is dangerous thing.  Here are some amazing and weird inventions that I have found.

365 Knitting Clock:  I love this idea. Unfortunately, they aren't for sale.
Staircase Drawers:  I want them now.  This site comes with DIY instructions.
Defendius Door Chain:  Still not sure if this is a great idea yet...but it would definitely keep anyone who has had too much to drink from going out and getting into trouble.

10-in-1 Gardening Tool:  More is not always better.
Stick Butter:  I would confuse this with my UHU.
Champagne Parachute:  This is kind of cute.
Cuddle Pillows:  For when you are missing your Muppet.

The Kush:  Apparently this is also one of the many, many...many names for Weed.
Neuticles:  These are not beans...at least not in the traditional sense.  I won't spoil the surprise.
Go Girl:  For every girl who ever wanted to write her name in the snow.

Homemade Gingerbread House

This is my first gingerbread house (completely from scratch)!  I used a vintage recipe (Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie recipe), but I think I will try a different recipe next time.

A Holiday Past-time

As a child, I always enjoyed making snowflakes for the holidays.  It is a really fun and easy craft for the whole family:  all you need is paper and scissors (and string if you want to hang them).

Make Your Own Gift Tags

Continuing with yesterday's post about homemade Christmas cards, here are some handmade Christmas tags.  I stuck with the same themes as the Christmas cards and expanded with a few extra designs.   These tags and the Christmas cards will soon be available to buy on my Etsy store.

Tipsy Arnold Palmer

I am not new to the idea of the Arnold Palmer (half lemonade and half iced tea), but when my sister and I found some Seagram's Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka we knew that we had to try it.  So we took our Lemonade Iced Tea recipe (see below) and added a shot of vodka.  Conclusion:  amazing.

During one of my travels into the city of San Francisco, I found a store that made me physically weak in the knees...I'm serious, it was love at first site.  And now it is the only place that I go to for my artistic needs.

Life of Pi

The book for this month will be Life of Pi by Yann Martel.  I decided to reread the book before going to see the movie.

This month I'm trying something new:  I will post a comment after I read each chapter with my thought, predictions, and any questions.  If you are interested, please read along with me.  One lucky reviewer will win a free copy of next month's book; just leave a comment to be eligible.

Also, I'm opening up the Book Club Page to accept comments.  Leave some feedback about what book you would like to be featured next month.
